Rob is a former Executive Producer at BBC Radio 1, who has devised some of the radio station’s most successful long running brands, including Annie Mac’s ‘Minimix’ download and Zane Lowe’s annual ‘Masterpieces’ series, and has won 8 Sony Radio Academy Gold Awards.
With over 10 years experience, working creatively at the BBC, he has a reputation for delivering ambitious, bold, music and entertainment projects. As Executive Producer at Radio 1, he led their creative process from managing project briefs, facilitating idea generation, pitching ideas, development and production.
Before they founded Banana Stand, Rob and Emlyn worked together on many BBC Radio 1 projects, devising ‘Radio1’s Fun and Filth Cabaret’ (5 days multi-media interactive cabaret from the Edinburgh festival), creating ‘Scott Mills: the Musical’ (a crowd-sourced musical which debuted at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe) and ‘The Radio 1 Movie’ (a crowd-sourced film about Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Carlisle). Rob was also Executive Producer of the ambitious, live, online social media experiment ‘U CTRL Katy’, with Katy Perry.
Rob has also worked with outside partners delivering key projects such as the Radio 1 at the Brit Awards, Comic Relief, Children in Need Rocks, Radio 1 in Miami, and was recently Executive Producer for Greg James’ shows in Afghanistan.
He has has produced live music radio shows with Zane Lowe and Radiohead, U2, Oasis, Foo Fighters and Coldplay, and has managed Greg James, Scott Mills, Annie Mac, Pete Tong, Colin Murray, Jo Whiley and Nick Grimshaw at Radio 1.
Rob has also worked as a Development Producer at BBC TV, and in the creative team at Fallon, working on key brands such as Orange, Cadburys and Skoda.
He loves all things music-y, comedy, arty and geeky, but is no good at being mean-and-moody in black and white photos.
